Susan Stokes Earns State Recognition

The “Texans Caring for Texans” award is presented annually to employees who go above and beyond the call of duty. As a DSHS Program Specialist, Susan recruits, trains and exercises volunteers throughout the Panhandle region’s emergency “points of distribution.” Her tireless effort has resulted in her counties being made ready to respond to emergencies.
In addition to her vast responsibilities at DSHS, Susan is dedicated to helping others in her community. Since 2008, she has served as President of PILC’s Board of Directors and for many years supported the Center’s fundraising events. She is also active in the ARC of Potter and Randall Counties, Catholic Family Services, and Council for People with Disabilities. In her "spare time,” she serves as Second Vice President for the Amarillo North Lions Club.
Susan will be formally recognized by state officials during a reception and award presentation on August 10th. Her contributions to Texas, her community and people with disabilities are immeasurable.
