Exciting entertainment, wonderful meals and a break in horrible winter weather drew enthusiastic guests to PILC’s first “Heart to Heart Affair.”

The February 12th benefit netted more than $8,000 – funds that will assist people with disabilities in the coming year.  In spite of a major winter storm only three days before, Valentine’s sweethearts turned out for great music, a silent auction, meals catered by Stockyard Café and desserts prepared by Master Chef T. Jay Reeves.  It seemed that guests were eager to share a fun, romantic evening in the wake of heavy snow, ice and sub-zero weather.

This year’s Affair was designed and conducted by PILC’s Auxiliary, the Center’s first group of community volunteers led by Blenda Killough.  She formed the energetic, talented team including Andrea Boggs, Anne Jones, Kim Pierson, Jolie Person, Karen Smith, Susan Stokes and Tara Thornton.  Their work in assembling a successful benefit signaled a new era of fundraising and a step toward improving community-wide support and awareness of PILC.

The Auxiliary’s class and sophistication was evident in the elegant party room at the Sunset Center Art Gallery.  Master of Ceremonies Kip Frazer, assisted by PILC President D.J. Stubben, lifted spirits while guests enjoyed the music of five performing artists and groups.  Other fun activities included a photo booth, bake sale, and an open bar. A “wine pull” also delighted guests who chose bottles from a large assortment of wines, most of which had tags for prizes hidden on the bottom.

Great fun, food and good will filled the Sunset Center Party Room during PILC’s first “Heart to Heart Affair.”

The “Heart to Heart Affair” also succeeded because of generous contributions from individuals and the business community who shared whatever they could.  Along with more than 70 silent auction and prize donors, major gifts were provided by The Second Chance Foundation, ProStep Rehabilitation, Ms. Ann Crouch, and McFarlin’s Jewelry.
