Peer Counseling and Support

Peer Counseling is very important to people who are making life changes in response to their disability, attitudes and environment.  Our Peer Counseling staff members are people with disabilities who have encountered their own personal challenges and can offer encouragement and guidance to others.  Peer counselors function as role models, advocates and resource persons.

The Center also offers small, casual gatherings including a monthly Traumatic Brain Injury support group.  TBI survivors, their families and friends share valuable information, motivational discussions and personal insights.  Some consumers attend the monthly meeting of the Amarillo Disabled Individuals in Action, an advocacy group that meets to hear informative speakers or learn more about their community.

Our monthly support group meetings are listed in our activities calendar, or you may call our office at (806) 374-1400.
