Harrington and Payne Foundations Endorse Major Renovations
Generous contributions are making possible the renovations at 417 West Tenth – a true reflection of the many people who believe in the Center’s mission.
The Don and Sybil Harrington Foundation is among the first of several benefactors to endorse plans for the $145,000 interior renovation project. The Foundation has approved $56,000 as its match portion, contingent on the other funds arriving by spring. The David D. and Nona S. Payne Foundation of Pampa has given $10,000, and one other foundation is considering support. PILC has pledged $33,000 of its own resources.
Development Director Joe Rogers said “We’re very optimistic that other foundations will see the Center’s dedication to this project but more importantly, will want to be part of this effort to expand services for families, kids and grown-ups with disabilities.” The renovation calls for necessary ADA improvements to restrooms, a training kitchen and consumer activity areas.
Other Amarillo businesses have also pitched in to help since June. Lavin Architects donated several renderings that
Joe said “We’re grateful for the many people that are making this dream come true and we encourage other friends to join us; we still have many needs.” He added that the Center is now accepting contributions from friends in the community and welcomes a personal visit to provide information about the new building.
