Don Mason Builders Welcomes PILC to West Tenth

Mr. Don Mason and son Donny are lending guidance as builders and friends.
Panhandle ILC is becoming part of the history along West Tenth Street while sharing a close relationship with Don Mason Builders (DMB), the company that constructed and owned the building since1968.

PILC purchased the property from DMB which will continue to maintain their corporate office next door to the Center.  As the original builder, DMB has donated guidance and renovation plans that were vital in preparing proposals for foundation grants and early construction projects.  DMB President Donny Mason has also coordinated the installation of ramps and parking areas.

Donny’s father, DMB Founder Don Mason, is looking forward to having PILC as a neighbor and feels strongly about the Center’s mission.  “PILC is a fine organization that does a lot for the community and people with disabilities.  We’re proud that you’ll soon be next door to us,” Mr. Mason said.

Mr. Mason recalls when the property had a two-story apartment house in the 1930’s and later had a few businesses in it.  The old complex was torn down, and DMB built the present facility for the Hugo Loewenstern Real Estate Company.  The Masons’ knowledge of the building and its construction has been helpful in developing the Center’s renovation plans.

PILC’s mission to find a new home has been aided by the Masons as builders and friends.  “Our company was founded on Christian principles,” Mr. Mason said. “We have a responsibility to help people.”
