ConocoPhillips Shares Youth Encountering Success Mission

The corporate gift marks the third year of the company’s support now totaling $7,250. The funds directly support PILC’s Youth Encountering Success summer program, enabling youth with disabilities to participate at no cost. This year, 23 students from the Panhandle region enjoyed vocational and social field trips, life skills training and self-empowerment activities.
Under the direction of PILC’s Cynthia Hammett, the YES program helps build confidence and motivation among students who will soon transition from high school. Students ages 12 to 21 participate in the ten-week summer program endorsed by area schools and educators. The gift from ConocoPhillips helps provide transportation, supplies, awards, T-shirts, event admissions and refreshments.
This latest gift from ConocoPhillips was presented by Dumas-Pampa Production personnel Milt Hoefling, Hector Bernal and Dayton Packebush. The gift was accepted during the YES graduation ceremonies by the students and PILC Board Treasurer Ray Aplin. Following a slide show about the summer’s activities, the ConocoPhillips guests received a plaque recognizing the company’s “Continuing Support Building Better Futures for Youth.”
Also honored was Southwest Church of Christ which allows the YES summer program to use its spacious facilities. The church’s gym, classrooms and audio/visual equipment give more students a chance to enjoy wholesome, rewarding activities.
