Auxiliary Members Ask, “Why limit ‘happy’ to an hour?”
At Panhandle Independent Living Center, Happy Hour is a year-round event!
PILC’s Auxiliary is hosting an evening of fun and facts about the Center’s mission to improve the lives of people with disabilities. Friends of PILC are invited to attend a Happy Hour on Thursday, June 16 at Jorge’s Tacos Garcia, 1100 Ross Street, from 5:30 to 7:00. Along with food, drinks and prizes, the Auxiliary will invite people to help plan the Center’s annual fundraiser, “A Heart to Heart Affair.”
Auxiliary members hope to find caring people to help with the annual event, to benefit deserving men, women and youth with disabilities. This year, the auxiliary raised $8,000 which is used to help high school youth with disabilities prepare for adulthood and life on their own, and to assist people who encounter unexpected financial needs.
Because the event requires year-round preparation, the Auxiliary asked, “Why limit happy to an hour?” The “Heart to Heart Affair” Happy Hour offers volunteers rewarding opportunities to build friendships while producing an exciting community-wide benefit. Ultimately, the true beneficiaries are people with disabilities, who live fuller, more independent lives.
Anyone interested in joining the Auxiliary’s team by attending the Happy Hour should contact PILC at 374-1400 or by e-mail at happyhour [at] panhandleilc [dot] org. The social is open to men and women who enjoy raising money and the spirits of others!
